Our company was established in 2004 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The name, Tana, is derived from Lake Tana, the source of the ancient Blue Nile River. TDI began with the vision of creating a water well drilling company in Ethiopia that would have a lasting impact, changing the industry itself in the region and even globally. Our projects have ranged from drilling private wells for homeowners and businesses, to over 200 deep wells (with a total depth of more than 34,000m) in various regions of Ethiopia. More recently, TDI has extended to the manufacturing of HDPE pipes and PVC Pipes with the support of our state-of-the-art laboratory. Through these different projects, TDI has filled an important gap in the sector and helped to strengthen Ethiopia’s burgeoning economy.

Since its inception, we have positioned TDI to become the most successful independent water well drilling company in Ethiopia. We accomplished this by investing in knowledge management and high-end equipment. Not only has this increased efficiency and delivery in the drilling sector, but it has allowed us to continually improve by anticipating market trends. Our large capacity gives us the ability to constantly adapt to the ever-changing environment in the drilling and now in HDPE pipes and PVC pipes manufacturing industry. Currently we have earned the title of Class 1 Contractor in General Water Works Construction and Water Well Drilling Company in Ethiopia, and we plan to continue our large scale and complex drilling projects as our company expands.
